Linda Gottlieb, a long-time fundraiser for the LGBTQ community, founded The LGBTQ Focus Foundation, a not-for-profit New York State charitable corporation, in October 2015.
Building on her success in raising more than half a million dollars for LGBTQ charities over the last five years throught the annual Women's Pride in the Pines event in Fire Island Pines, the new foundation will focus on raising funds for those most vulnerable in the LGBTQ community including youth, senior citizens and women.
A key component of Ms. Gottlieb's fundraising efforts is to keep the expenses for the Women's Pride in the Pines event as low as possible to maximize the funds the receipient charities receive. Â This goal has been a success, with expenses less than 15% of the money raised.Â
This year, Women's Pride in the Pines will be on Saturday, June 11, 2016 and will include an afternoon dance, VIP sunset cocktail party, live entertainment and a silent auction, to raise money for the Hetrick-Martin Insitute and the Ali Forney Center to raise money for their LGBTQ youth services.
Ms. Gottlieb has established a dynamic Board  of Directors, who bring a variety of skills in fundraising, marketing, LGBTQ advocacy and event planning.
The organization has filed with the Internal Revenue Service for  501(c)(3) status as not-for-profit charitable foundation.
